Frequently Asked Questions
Will a 3-person tent suit two people?
Yes, and it's really comfortable: two occupants can enjoy plenty of space to stash bags and gear safely out of the weather. The slight extra weight compared to a 2-person tent is easily offset by the real gain in comfort at camp.
How much does a 3-person tent weigh?
Depending on the model, roughly 2 to 4kg, less for ultralight versions. When shared between two or more people, the load becomes much more manageable - even on a multi-day trek. Weight increases with space and durability.
How to choose a 3-person tent?
Look at the floor space, height, porches, weight and waterproofing (hydrostatic head, taped seams). Match the comfort/weight trade-off to how you'll use it: a small group trekking or a couple heading off the beaten track.
Three-season or four-season?
A 3-season tent is fine for spring through autumn in mild conditions. For winter, snow and strong winds, a more robust 4-season tent is needed, though it comes at the cost of extra weight.
